Lily Hayden
Hi! I am a sophomore at Loyola University Chicago studying political science and advertising/public relations. I was born and raised in Edmonds, WA, a small town right outside of Seattle.
I hated reading when I was little. So much so, that my elementary school put me into English language tutoring classes. That was, until I discovered that there were more books out there than the ones I was made to read in school. Now, reading is my number one hobby and there is no genre I love more than speculative fiction.
WHY I AM HERE: While reading is an important aspect of my life, I know that not everyone enjoys it and thus does not see its value. I am starting this website to raise awareness for books, so that even if the cover has a dragon, crown, or spaceship on it, others will understand that within the pages lay meaningful messages. Through which, lessons can be learned and applied to events and topics in our own lives.
EXPERIENCE: I enjoy talking to and helping people, which is why all my experience is related to communication. I have worked seasonally/part-time at a women’s and children’s boutique for 3 years as a retail associate where I have provided personal customer service to support sales goals. During the summer of 2023, I did an internship for Providence Regional Medical Center in Washington where my role was patient engagement. Through the same program, I volunteered as a camp counselor for children with developmental disabilities and helped to foster physical, social, and emotional growth. I also volunteered from 2024-2025 at my local middle school, tutoring the cello section of the orchestra where I encouraged confidence and aided in honing techniques.
GOALS: I am working towards earning by BA’s so I can peruse a career in advertising, hopefully for a publishing company or as a political communications strategist!
